Wangat is 20 kilometres north of Dungog on the northern side of the Hunter Valley, and in the foothills of the Barrington Tops. Travelling time is one and a quarter hours from Newcastle and around three hours from Sydney. The Lodge is constructed of mud bricks and locally hewn timber. It is situated on a 37-hectare Wildlife Refuge bordered by a pristine stretch of the Chichester River and overlooking Chichester State Forest. Possums, wallabies and bandicoots are semi-tame around the Lodge; there are superb pools for swimming in the river; and an extensive network of short and longer walking trails extending from Wangat into State Forest and Barrington Tops National Park. It is available for family holidays, group activities, school camps, training courses and conferences.
